Despite the fact that microwave is of great importance in the home, however, it will interest you to know that putting the wrong things in it (microwave) is capable of making you sick, exposing you to harmful chemicals or even setting your entire house ablaze.

1. Broccoli

Research has proven that when you microwave broccoli with water, it loses up to 97% of its beneficial nutrients.

2. Fruit Frozen

Microwaving frozen fruit can turn its beneficial glucosides and galactosides into carcinogenic (capable of causing cancer) substances.

3. Defrost the meat

It will interest you to know that any meat that is cooked in a microwave for more than 6 minutes is certainly going to lose half of it’s B-12 content.

4. Plastic-wrapped/containerized food

The reason why it is very dangerous to put any plastic substance or plate into the microwave is that heating it can cause harmful toxic chemicals to be released into your food.

5. Aluminized Foil

It’s a metal that easily sparks or catches fire. If you want to reheat leftovers, remove the foil first.

6. Containers made of Styrofoam

Styrofoam is a familiar type of plastic that does not respond well to microwave temperatures. So, you may end up wasting your time when you put it into the microwave.

7. Breast Milk

It is important for every woman to know that some of the disease-fighting properties of breast milk are destroyed when it’s microwaved. Warming breast milk is best done by placing it in a container of warm water.

8. Metallic-rimmed plates

Why you should never put anything made of metal into your microwave is that it can catch fire.

9. Without a Cover, Sauce or Dip

Putting any dip or sauce in the microwave without a cover will result in a huge mess.

10. Nothing (Using an empty microwave oven)

Turning it on with nothing in it can cause damage to the microwave and even a fire.
